Over 1.40 lakh overage vehicles scrapped in 2022-23 financial year

According to the Delhi Statistical Handbook-2023, the number of overage vehicles scrapped in Delhi increased significantly from 4,923 in the 2021-22 fiscal year to 1,40,342 in the 2022-23 fiscal year. The increase can be attributed to the Delhi government's Electric Vehicle Policy, which provides incentives for scrapping old vehicles. The policy aims to raise the share of electric vehicles in Delhi to 25% by 2024. Additionally, the number of registered motor vehicles in Delhi has seen a slight increase, reaching 79,45,596 in the 2022-23 fiscal year.
