Karnataka places request for Rs 17,901 crore drought relief package with Centre

The Karnataka government has requested a drought relief package of Rs 17,901 crore due to the severe shortage of rainfall in the state. A total of 216 taluks have been declared as drought-hit, and there is a possibility of a drinking water crisis. The Central government officials are currently studying the situation and a positive response has been received for the immediate release of funds. The state is also awaiting funds for the employment guarantee scheme and has requested the release of pending amounts.
