A triumphant Eknath Shinde arrived for the swearing-in ceremony with his infant grandson in his arms and took oath after invoking Sena founder Bal Thackeray and his mentor Anand Dighe. By contrast, Devendra Fadnavis looked visibly uncomfortable. The BJP’s move is also in line with the pattern it had followed in Bihar. It had given the top post to Nitish Kumar in 2020, though it had more seats than the JDU.
